Today is my day off, so I practiced by sketching a portrait of a girl facing up. I've been thinking about the color combination a lot, and I referred to your Instagram for the hairstyle. It's fun! I was wondering if it would be better to put another layer of color on the face, and then I stopped.

I finally finished! Even the flowers!!! I still have a lot to learn, but I’m happy with where I’m at. 😆 I’m going to keep practicing as I finish your class!! Haha

No experience necessary! Even if you’ve never learned how to draw portraits, you will be able to take this class and learn how to draw portraits easily. I have prepared simple techniques that will help you create beautiful works of art, just like me!

The Secret of Proportions

Starting by learning the structure of bones, muscles, and movements can be a little difficult and honestly kind of boring. Instead, I'm going to help you draw characters with proportions that will transform your drawing into a portrait more beautiful than photos. There is a magic to my ratios that makes my portraits different from reality.

You can create chic and trendy portraits by using different angles.

Glamorous looks are made by the angle of the face and the “gaze” treatment. Even the slightest difference in turning, lifting or lowering a face can produce subtle lines that you can't create otherwise. Depending on where your subjects are looking, you can make your portrait look even better. Learn how to find attractive face angles and make it look as though the portrait is making eye contact with viewers.

Hyun Mi will teach you how to add atmosphere to your character portraits.

If you draw green leaves or flowers with the character, the character's personality or mood will become more visible. Of course, it also adds something more to see, so the quality of the picture is even higher! Learn how to find and draw plants or flowers that go well with the image of each person.

I'll also give you tips on adding a glamorous hairstyle and how to find a color scheme that always works!

With a few simple lines and basic coloring techniques, you’ll be able to master drawing glamorous colored pencil portraits.

Come draw with me!

In closing: Hyun Mi’s parting thoughts

Illustrator Lee Hun Mi

@vacaskingdom.girl

Hello. I’m Hyun Mi Lee, an artist who draws chic colored pencil portraits of girl characters.

I work on illustrations on advertisements, packages, etc. that go in in publications. It's been 13 years since I've become a full-time artist. I want to become an artist whose drawings are used in various media outlets.

Recently I've been working on a project where I draw girls with colored pencils. I use just a few soft colored pencils and simple steps to complete my illustrations. They are more realistic than simple illustrations that consist only of sketch lines, and it is more casual than reality.

I’ve never taught offline classes, but I've written quite a few books. Starting with Painter Holic, a book on the Corel Painter program, there are 'Fashion Girl Hand Drawing Illustration' and 'Character Illustration Drawing', two books about using pencils and colored pencils.

I'm constantly writing books. My ninth book is coming soon, and the tenth book is currently being written. I’m currently located in a quiet, small studio in Seogwipo, south of Jeju Island.
