I'm revealing exactly how I make my art in this online course
Learn everything you need to start painting digital portraits in Procreate
Turn who you admire into priceless works of art
I started my journey painting just like everyone else, from the beginning. I challenged myself to get better one step at a time by doing digital drawings each and every day about the subjects I love most: the people around me and characters from my favorite series.
I will show you all the techniques I use as I walk you through my own self-taught process to paint digital portraits in Procreate.
If you’re like me, who was someone that struggled with drawing faces, this course is definitely for you. Complete your own artworks by following along step by step with me and learning all my iPad tools, tips and tricks.
Whether an absolute beginner in digital drawing or used to drawing in your own style, I will help you take your artwork to the next level with this portrait painting masterclass.
Instead of a simple how-to video you watch and are done with or a one-way lecture covering basic techniques, I structured this course so you will learn the fundamentals in a fun, interactive way by practicing at your own pace, completing activities and getting direct feedback from me.
I'll cover everything from sketching the anatomy of the head and facial features to applying light, shadow and color to create natural skin tones.
By the end of the course you will be able to paint portraits of your friends, family or make your own fan art of whoever you admire.
Step 01 : Master the tools
Digital painting has never been more convenient to create than on the iPad. I will teach you how to paint portraits using the Procreate app using all the tools, tips and tricks I taught myself.
Step 02 : Practice through specific activities
I will teach you to draw anatomically and proportionally accurate heads and facial features through specific activities you will upload to get personal pointers and artistic guidance from me.
Step 03 : Learn how I do light, shadow, and coloring
Next we will move into more detailed ways of how I use light, shadow and coloring to capture the character of the subjects I paint by showing you the specific brushes and modes in Procreate.
Step 04 : Draw full portraits with me step by step
You will follow along each step of the way of doing a full portrait painting with me as I point out the most important parts of my process and try to help you cultivate your own personal style.
Step 05 : Make portraits all on your own
I will teach you everything you need from finding sources for inspiration to considering what will make a good reference photo so that you can go out into the world and make portraits all on your own!
I'm Joshua, a self-taught artist who started out as a beginner. In this video you can see the improvement I made through constant effort and the methods I developed. Enroll today to start improving the easy way!

Artist and Illustrator, Joshua Esmeralda
Hi, I’m Joshua, a self-taught artist based in the Philippines. Since I was a child I was fascinated with cartoon characters and drawing them. All it was back then was a hobby, but I realized it could be so much more.
In 2015, I made a new year’s resolution to draw everyday in the hopes of getting better, a habit I have kept ever since. Everyday, for the past five years I have been practicing from the fundamentals, to experimenting and finding my own style. I started from nothing and learned through online tutorials, books, and studying from other artists.
Now I work as a freelance character illustrator and have worked on illustrations for book covers, movie posters and concept art for international TV series. I have put together this class to summarise all those years of learning into one course.
This course will teach you how to use different tools likes "digital brushes," "palettes," and "blending options" in the Procreate app. I will help you adjust your app settings to optimize your drawing experience.
*Please Note: Students will have to purchase Procreate application ($10 in App Store).
