WHAT IS THIS CLASS ABOUT?

This class will focus on Italian vegetarian cooking that you can easily follow along from home. Together we'll be making pasta, bread, pizza, and more all from scratch with local, seasonal ingredients. We focus on simple cooking that captures the essence of the Italian kitchen.

WHO IS THIS CLASS FOR?

You don't have to be an experienced cook or have expensive kitchen equipment. This class is for those who have the desire to learn healthy home recipes and improve your cooking skills!

WHAT WILL THE STUDENTS ACHIEVE?

Besides learning individual dishes, by the end of the class, you should have enough of an understanding of Italian cuisine to be able to comprehend what makes a dish authentic and what doesn't. You'll be able to intuit what ingredients go into a dish and what should be left out and be able to invent some of your own dishes based on what you have available. If you’re a die-hard meat eater, you'll also discover how delicious Italian vegetarian cooking can be.

Meet Your Creator
Steve and his wife Linda are the owners of The Beehive Hostel in Rome which they opened and have been running since May 1999. Steve is a self-taught home cook who runs The Beehive’s cafe where he makes sourdough bread, bagels, croissants, and other baked goods. Before the pandemic, he taught weekly small group pizza and pasta making classes at The Beehive or in private homes, but at the moment, he teaches classes online by request. Steve used to cook family-style dinners at the hostel twice a week before the pandemic but then started cooking weekly Deep Dining dinners creating an ever-changing menu combining food & conversation. Now with no guests at the hostel, Steve and his wife Linda started a bagel business making bagels, bread, and pickles by advance order and the word has spread quickly through Rome's international community.
